, there is going to be two deals. i want to ask mr. santelli if i can, michael, as far as all the time you've been covering the markets we've basically been on hold for a month here. a full month of december we've been on hold. i believe we'll be on hold for most of the month of january. you take that, two months out of 12, that is 16% of the year. a bunch of these corporations are not going to like that we don't have certainty about the debt ceiling and that negotiations the one that is more troubling to me than this one. how about for you? >> i agree with that. basically, i've been surprised by the level of a parent kind of corporate hesitancy about their actual business given what is going on in washington. i don't really think that the tangible stakes are that high for most businesses. it just happens to be this overhang. so i do think that is a major concern and really i think that -- >> you can paint it another way. >> hold it. both you guys said that the debt ceiling is a major concern for corporations. >> yep. >> tell me why that is. i'm on the other side of the fence. i don't agree with t

of research for jk investment group and michael kujino who is with permanent portfolio fund. gentlemen, good to see you both. thanks for joining us. chris, it worked out perfectly for a stock like b of a which last year in 2011 was the worst performing dow component and this year it was the best performing dow component, so the dogs of the dow theory worked out that time, didn't it? >> right, he sure did, bill, and i think actually this one is going to be another darling for this year when you look out to 2013. it's interesting. the stocks almost doubled here in 2012 yet the analyst community has only 35% of their rankings in the buy category, so this one is a quiet performer. i think a lot of people were expecting regulatory environments to really play havoc with it towards the end of the year, and i think a lot of political capital will be spent on what's at hand right now obviously with the fiscal cliff, and obviously what we do with 2013, i don't think that you're going to see a lot of regulation questioned, asked during 2013. >> okay. >> i think this one is one stock that will benefit.

'banks made a big mistake giving out all those loans, and regulators probably weren't looking as closely as they should have been. so, now they're both making sure that the finger doesn't get pointed at them again.' to get that loan in the new year, mcauliffe says be honest about what you can afford, save for a large down payment, and don't count on that loan until all the papers are signed. 'the big thing is, don't do anything to negatively affect that credit score. they're going to check your job that day, they're going to put your credit that day. in fact, they're going to look at the appraisal to make sure it all makes sense to them. fiori remains hopeful that even in this tight-money environment, financing will ultimately come his way in the new year. mcauliffe adds that

no adam shapiro will add on to that. there is a look at some movers. michael cores down over 6%. tracy: i was in the balls this weekend. lori: crowded theater not like i thought it would be. adam shapiro in the newsroom with the details. i thought it was way busier last year than it was this weekend. >> no. here are some numbers. for the period of october to eight and december 24, sales grew. in 2011, sales for that period of time grew 2%. they are using that as an indicator that things will not be as good as we thought going into the holiday shopping season. on monday, shopper track indicated and revise their outlook for the holiday spending growth from 3.3% down to 2.5%. the only holdout is the national retail federation. it is saying that they still expect growth this holiday season to be 4.1% over the last year. they are sticking to those numbers. one of the reasons spending polls believe we saw a drop-off and had to revise the predictions for the year, superstorm sandy. they do not think it was consumers fear got as much as it was on the drops of the markets in the middle east. back
